College Ministry
“Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” Colossians 1:28
Harvest College Ministry is dedicated to the motto of Light and Heat. It is our firm conviction, that when there is true understanding of the Word in our minds (Light) there will result true and outward affections in the heart (Heat). Both are needed, one is not good without the other. Harvest College exists to point collegians to Bible learning for Bible living. And therefore those seeking to commit to the ministry can expect to find sound biblical teaching and a vast variety of ministries to exercise their affections. We are resolved to be dedicated in the following six areas:
- The Word.
- Prayer.
- Family.
- The Local Church (Harvest Church).
- Community.
- Excellence.
2009-2010 Theme: God’s Grace
Our theme for the year is “God’s grace.” Harvest College’s goal is to pursue bible knowledge for the purpose of bible living. I want the members of Harvest College to see that God’s grace to mankind (and to each of us individually) is really the most life-changing thing ever. It frees us from the condemnation of sin and from every other vice (doubt, worry) that could overtake us. It also gives us reason to live for Christ (to fight sin, to make disciples of all nations, etc.). These themes will be explored in the later quarters. But before that I want to set the foundation – showing that God truly is a God of grace, that he has always been a God of grace, and that we can be convinced that as his children, we are no longer under condemnation and judgment but under his grace.
Spring Quarter 2010

Please join us every Friday night of the quarter as we meet together in fellowship and hear from God’s Word. We generally meet at UCSD Center 119 at 7:15P but check the front page just to be sure!
Winter Quarter 2010

Last quarter we laid the foundation by observing God’s grace in the lives of past believers; this quarter we will study the transformative effect that the presence of God has on our lives today. God’s grace changes us from the inside out; things that once attracted us or held us down can do so no longer. The continued revelation and application of God’s grace in our lives will free us from doubt, worry, legalism, and other vices, and will enable us to live obediently by faith as, more and more, God himself becomes our greatest joy and happiness.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
Fall Quarter 2009

With that in mind, Fall Quarter’s theme is “God’s Grace Revealed”. We’ve chosen to study characters from the OT because these stories still have so much to teach us about God. Sometimes we mistakenly think that God in the OT was only a God of wrath and law, but in the NT he was a God of grace. By studying the lives of these individuals whose stories show evidence of God’s grace, we can see that God is an unchanging, loving, faithful God, and let that knowledge affect our own lives.
Open Mic Night
What is Open Mic Night, you ask? Well, Open Mic Night is an evening in which you have an opportunity to share what God has been teaching you with the entire fellowship. It’s a time set aside to give God glory, and to encourage your brothers and sisters. It’s definitely a blessing to hear how the Lord has been working among the individuals of Harvest College.

With that said, time to share is extremely limited. So, if you would like to make sure that you get an opportunity to share, email me (college@harvestsd.com) to reserve a spot!
There are also certain guidelines you should know before sharing:
- Open Mic Night is for the purpose of praising and thanking God. Sharing is to be centered and focused upon him. It’s not a time for shout-outs to your small group leader.
- Speak with grace – this is not a time for heavy rebuke. You are welcome to encourage the congregation, but do it in a spirit of love.
- Try to keep it short – respect the fact that other people would like to share too. < 5 minutes would be most excellent. Preparing ahead of time would facilitate this too.
I look forward to hearing from you this Friday. And remember, if your heart starts a-poundin’ while you’re sitting there listening to others share, maybe you should get up and share too.
Open Mic Night Fall 2009 – December 4th
Open Mic Night for Fall Quarter 2009 is at UCSD Center Hall 115. Be there at 7:15PM.
Much love to you!
